Sandburg Softball’s Wynkoop, Stevenson Named 2nd-Team All-Region IV

Carl Sandburg College softball players Whitney Wynkoop (Fulton, Ill./Fulton) and Haley Stevenson (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) have earned spots on the All-Region IV Division II District B Second Team for their play this season.

Wynkoop, a freshman first baseman, played in 46 games this spring and led the Chargers in batting at .372, on-base percentage at .405 and total hits with 54. Wynkoop’s .833 OPS was second on the team, and she was third among Chargers in slugging (.428) a doubles (six). Wynkoop also was second on the team in steals, swiping 10 bases without being caught.

Stevenson was second on the team in runs scored (29) and third in batting (.326), but she made her biggest impact on the basepaths and in the field. Stevenson stole a team-best 11 bases in 13 attempts, and the fleet-footed freshman was second among Chargers with 104 putouts in 41 games while patrolling center field.
